Alireza Kakoee was born in a small village in Kerman province, Iran, but his second name historically comes from a larger tribe in Iran that once governed the western region. Because of this, his family name is still connected to that tribe, which eventually settled where he was born in 1980. His mother says he was born four days earlier than the date on his official record. His name was chosen by his grandmother on his mother’s side.

He grew up in that city but completed high school and university in larger cities and began working in the mining industry. He has experienced different aspects of life in varied environments and with diverse friends. He could have continued higher education at the PhD level while working, and in 2022, he moved to Vaasa to collaborate on energy research as a postdoctoral researcher. Since then, he has been living with his family in Vaasa, Finland.
